There are several structures and features found throughout the property here at G&L Farms, lending charm and interest to this unique family farm.
The rustic log cabin was built in 2022, though it seems to come from another century. Inside the log cabin you'll find cast iron accessories, a crude table, and a wooden bed.
Near the family home, across the small pond and up the hill, is the hunting cabin, built in 2024. The hunting cabin has two bedrooms, a living area, and kitchen downstairs, and two bedrooms upstairs in the loft. Hunters, friends, and family gather on the large back porch or around the fireplace outside.
The chapel was built in 2024. It sits high on a hill in a small grove of pines, overlooking rolling pastures out of the window behind the alter. With picnic tables and an outhouse, it is an ideal gathering and worshiping spot. The horseback riders frequently stop and rest at the chapel.
There are four horse barns at G&L Farms. Each barn has a tack room, several stalls, and a breezeway/tacking area. The big barn has heating and air conditioning, a bathroom, and an indoor foaling area.
G&L Farms had two arenas. The small arena is used for warming up before riding, training the weanlings, and for holding animals who need to be off the pasture for various reasons. The large arena is used for roping practice as well as training, exercising, and honing ranch skills. It is also used as a cattle catch pen.
G&L Farms has two cemeteries on its property, both of which were in disrepair when purchased. The people buried here were born as early as 1805. The Webb-Henderson Cemetery and the Henderson Smith Cemetery are listed on Find-a-Grave. Click on the photo to learn more.
We are currently constructing a four-acre pond to be enjoyed by our cattle. It lies between pastures, and is spring fed.
